Vendor's Notes:Three-time winning mare Eavesdropping is a strong, good-looking daughter of Kayf Tara. Offered now as a broodmare, she was only denied further success on the racecourse through an unfortunate injury.
Trained throughout her career by Olly Murphy, she made an immediate impact in NHF races. She was second on debut behind Betty Baloo (a winner of five races), before winning next time at Fontwell.
She took to hurdles with aplomb; third on debut at Southwell, before winning next time out at Lingfield. She doubled her tally with perhaps her best performance, winning a novice hurdle under a penalty at Chepstow over 3-miles. She beat Walk In Clover, who subsequently won the Grade 2 Novices’ Handicap Chase Final at Cheltenham.
Her unraced dam, Leading On, has produced two other very notable horses. Butch is a full- brother who has won four races and is still on the upgrade after completing a three-timer when winning at Cheltenham in January 2024.
Hauraki Gulf is a full-brother, winning two races to date and has been placed in the first three on eight occasions, from just 10 runs. He is also a staying type.
Eavesdropping’s pedigree has real depth to it. Her dam Leading On is a half-sister to Princely Player (winner of five races, with a top RPR of 142), Kings Temptation (a winner of six races, with a top RPR of 138 and Tara View (winner of four races, with a top RPR of 132). The whole family shows both talent and tenaciousness. ¶
