Lot 1723: Survie, in training with and sold by Nicolas Clement and Frauke Hermans, is bought by MV Magnier for 1,900,000gns.
Second by a head in the Prix de Diane (G1), the Group 2 winner Survie was placed in three further Group 1 races and boasts a Timeform rating of 114.
By Churchill, Survie is out of the black-type winning mare Sotteville, from the family of the Group 1 Champion Stakes (G1) winner King Of Steel and the Australian champion Contributer.
“She’s a very good filly and Nicolas Clement has done a great job with her,” said Magnier. “We’re going to talk to Michael and Doreen [Tabor] and see what they want to do, but she might stay in training. We’ll make a plan in the next couple of days. Churchill has had another great year. He’s a good stallion and is probably the most value horse we have at home now.” (19:11)
Lot 1717: Anthony Stroud bid 2,000,000gns for Choisya. Stroud had to see off Mark McStay, standing at the top of the stairs, for the five-year-old filly, but when McStay went to 1,950,000gns, Stroud seized the chance to see the deal at two million and all McStay could do was shake his head at the response.
Winner of the Group 1 Jenny Wiley Stakes and a narrow third in the Group 1 First Lady Stakes when beaten just a half-length, Choisya is a daughter of Night Of Thunder and from the family of Godolphin’s multiple Group 1-winning fillies Hibaayeb and Wuhabia.
"She is for an overseas client, and it is not Godolphin!" said Stroud. "I am delighted to have got her, we had that sort of price in mind and I think she is a good buy. She stays in Europe, and I would love to be able to talk to Juddmonte about a Frankel cover."
She was trained by Simon and Ed Crisford and sold today by Gainsborough Thoroughbreds.
Ed Crisford said: “She is a lovely race mare and her owner, Mr Nabouda was delighted with her career and felt that now was the time to sell her; delighted with the result. She started low level and worked her way up. It wasn’t really until earlier this year that she really turned the taps on and look like a proper filly. She just took a long time to come to hand, in that sense.”
On whether her progression gave him extra satisfaction: “Yeah, I think so. I was talking about it earlier; it is nice to see them come through the ranks like that. Even as a four-year-old, she won a Listed race and came out the back in a Group 3, but she just wasn’t quite there yet.
“When we took her out to Dubai and to that American style of racing, she just loved it, it was the key to her. The quick ground and the turns and the bends. That was the spark that pulled her forward.” (19:08)
Lot 1664: the first to top the million is week is Star Magnolia (Kingman) from the Juddmonte draft. She was bought by agent Henry Lascelles for 1,300,000gns, and he was standing at the top of the back stairs, Ed Sackville, who was underbidder, was at the top of the bidders and just shook his head when asked to better Lascelles eventual winning bid
The purchaser's father Hugo Lascelles said: "What a great family to get into, young. She has two daughters working for you, and I like Kingman very much as a broodmare sire. She is in-foal to Frankel, what more can you say?
"The chat is that she had ability too, she is a very handsome lady, too, and that is why she is so exciting! She has been bought for a British owner-breeder."
Star Magnolia was a three-year-old winner and is out of Pavolosk, a Listed winner of the Michael Seely Memorial Stakes, and twice placed fourth in Group 3 races. She is dam of 2022-born Babouche (Kodiac), winner of the Phoenix Stakes (G1), and Zarinsk (Kodiac), winner of the Minstrel Stakes (G2).
She was sold in-foal to Frankel on an April 16 cover. She is third best-priced horse sold by Juddmonte in the Tattersalls sale ring. (16:34)
Lot 1654: Determined Stud / David Ingordo adds Sinology to his purchases yesterday, the US agent going to 435,000gns for the daughter of Study Of Man, a winner and Group 3 fourth placed in the Princess Royal Stakes. She was sold by Barton Stud for breeder Kirsten Rausing.
She is a daughter of the Group 1 winner Madame Chiang (Archipenko), the dam of five winners, including Oriental Mystique, a Listed winner and Group 3 placed, and Ching Shih, runner-up in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes (G2).
" I can't come to a horse sale and not buy something!" laughed Ingordo. "We were looking for something a different, she has a beautiful Lanwades pedigree, she is in-foal to Too Darn Hot and we are very keen on him.
"We will leave her here and the other mares here with Simon Marsh at Watership Down Stud, make use of my Lane's End connection with the Lloyd-Webbers, Matt [Dorman] has picked up on that, we will§ probably cover them and then, hopefully, Mr Trump will move on the tariffs!" (15:58)
Lot 1623: consigned by Kellsgrange Stud, Eepha, the winner of one race in France, becomes the most expensive sold so far today when bought by SackvilleDonald for 325,000gns.
The four-year-old daughter of Siyouni is out of the Slickly mare Grey Anatomy, dam of four winners, including the Grosser Preis von Baden (G1) winner Zagrey and the Group 2 winner and Group 1 third-placed Graignes (Zoffany)
Eepha was sold in-foal to Zarak on a March cover. (15:28)
Lot 1605: Ace Stud buys an eighth lot at this year's December Mares Sale, the young operation going to 180,000gns for Darn Hot Mystery, consigned by trainer Henry Candy's Kingstone Warren Stables.
She is a three-year-old filly by Too Darn Hot and out of Grey Mystere (Lethal Force), the dam of the autumn's Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Gewan (Night Of Thunder).
The purchase fulfils the strategic objectives mentioned by Ace Stud's bloodstock manager Paul Curran after yesterday's first December Mares Sceptre Session of 2025 when he reported that the operation is always keen to support pedigrees that it has enjoying success with – and this filly ticks that box being such a close relation to Gewan.
The purchase is a third progeny out of Grey Mystere bought by Ace Stud – the farm also bought Gewan's 2025 Native Trail half-brother at last week's Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 500,000gns from Overbury Stud. (14:17)
Lot 1588: Beauty Salon (Dutch Art) the dam of two winners, including the four-time winner Native Warrior, and a daughter of Albisola, winner of the Prix de Flore and the Prix Finlande (L), is bought by the Oak Tree Partnership for 220,000gns.
She was sold with an April cover to Dark Angel by Branton Court Stud.
Dam Albisola is a half-sister to Johnny Barnes, who finished second in the Criterium International (G1). It is also the family of the Phoenix Stakes (G1) third-placed Givemethebeatboys, the US Grade 1 winner and dual Group 1 runner-up Meditate, and the Group 1-winning siblings Ectot and Most Improved. (13:33)
Lot 1562: the Bungle Inthejungle filly Over The Blues is bought by TJC Equine 200,000gns from Tweenhills
The four-year-old is out of Fast Jazz (Frozen Power) and is the winner of one race and was placed three times, including in the Sweet Mimosa Stakes (L). She achieved am official rating high of 92. She is a half-sister to Special Wan, a dual Grade 3 placed filly in the US, and Grade 1-placed in the Just A Game Stakes. There are five black-type winners under the second dam, including Jazz Princess, who won the Athasi Stakes (G2).
Over The Blues was trained by Karl Burke for owner Barbara Keller. (12:40)
Lot 1527: Sundiata, who is by Showcasing and out of Dawn Of Empire (Empire Maker), hails from the outstanding Juddmonte Farms family of Cityscape, Bated Breath, Logician and Xaar.
She was sold today by Middlelane Farm for 190,000gns having been purchased by Emerald Bloodstock for 26,000gns at this sale in 2019. Since then she has had four foals, and one runner Mansa Musa (Ten Sovereigns), who is a Listed winner in the US, has been a runner-up twice in Group 3 races in Ireland, and Grade 1 third in the US. After buying six lots today and three in the Sceptre Session, including Caliyza, the evening's top lot, Paul Curran of Ace Stud said: "What can you say of her? She has got a three-parts [to Calandagan] in the belly, it makes a lot of sense after the weekend, in a way that win did not change anything, but it did put a different angle on him.
"She has a phenomenal pedigree, and there is commercially a very good horse to come from her. We are delighted to get her – we have no immediate plans for her, we will reassess, digest and sit down with everyone, and talk through plans, especially with the boss.
"Town And Country (Lot 1441) was bought for Shaquille, as was the Cockeyed Optimist, the Fastnet Rock filly (Lot1375); we want to buy from some nice broodmare sires for him. We are looking to buy some nice ones to row into him."
"Amazonian [Lot 1442] is a half to our own River Of Stars, and is a family we know well, and she ran really well in the Melbourne Cup this year when fourth. We like to buy into the family again and buy immediate relations, again no immediate plans and we will probably keep her here. We think a lot of River Of Stars in Australia and she could be exciting for next year.
Of the evening, he added: "We have had a busy and quick night, we are delighted to come here, we had the figures in our heads and we were in and around most of them so we are pretty happy. It is good as you can concentrate on some good lots in one go."
Of plans tomorrow's Sceptre Session, he said: "We will see, I am sure there will be a couple in there that will be of interest!" (20:24)
Lot 1452: "That was terrifying!" laughed Simon Sweeting after selling Caliyza, the Le Havre half-sister to Calandagan, rated the best horse in the world and last weekend's winner of the Japan Cup. She was bought by Ace Stud for 850,000gns.
"I am very lucky I am on a wonderful farm, that was laid down to grass a long time ago, everything is as it should be, I have a fabulous team and they will do anything for the horses and they do. I am hugely fortunate," he said. "We have got the right horses coming in and we have had some luck this summer,"
He added: "She came here a year ago as a wild card, and we bought her then. There are few of us involved with her, and it is a good team effort." She was sold in-foal to Gleneagles, the sire of Calandagan.
"When we were talking about her cover, we had no intention of selling her originally, but Richard [Brown] just said let's try and breed racehorse. Still until the King George we were not going to sell her, but things then stepped up and changed. And, of course, Sunday morning brought in a different group of people." (20:02)
Lot 1451: Rage Of Bamby is heading to Japan after purchase by Katsumi Yoshida for 750,000gns,
The daughter of Saxon Warrior was the impressive winner of the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes and finished fourth in the Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup. She is from the outstanding Niarchos family of Alpha Centuri and Alpine Star.
Shingo Hashimoto, representative for Northern Farm, said: "She is very nice, she well-bred, she is by Saxon Warrior who was bred in Japan. She is very athletic, and is from the dam line of Miesque, she has a good pedigree. The sire of Forever Young is from the same family. We will take her back to Japan now. We have not decided on stallion plans yet, it will depend on results from this week. We are very excited to have her on the team. Her price is what we had in mind, she was on the verge and it is always tough to buy a good mare here, even on Monday it is tough to buy!
"She moves really well, she is very athletic, we like her action, she has a big, should move."
"I bought her in Milan as a yearling. I only saw her on video, I loved her head and outlook," said Peter Kavanagh after selling the five-year-old mare. "And you could see that again today, she showed liked a champ and behaved perfectly. We bought a fair bit of the family subsequently. We bought the half-sister in Milan the following year that topped the sale. It’s lovely to have some of the family, it’s lovely to have raced her, she’s taken us on a fabulous journey. Hot To Trot were great partners and we had a lot of fun together." (20:01)
Lot 1450: Sam Sangster Bloodstock spent 750,000gns on Miss Justice. The Justify filly will be staying in training and, as he outlined, will also become a partner for the new National Stud stallion Diego Valazquez, winner of the Group 1 Prix Jacques Les Marois.
Miss Justice finished second in the Group 3 Pride Stakes and a smooth winner of the Listed Upavon Stake and was for a Timeform rated 104,
"She’s been bought by the partners and will go into training with Brian Meehan," he said. "We’ll carry on with her and probably cover her in training. She’s still lightly raced and she’s a gorgeous filly by Justify with a lovely pedigree, so there’s a lot to look forward to. We really wanted to show the kind of quality we wanted to support Diego with.
“We’ll regroup with Brian but there’s a couple of Listed races coming up in December, we might target her at those, or we might think further afield. She’s a fast ground filly so we can see if there’s something for her in Dubai and then bring her back. When Diego gets going, hopefully he’ll fancy her!”
Sangster also bought Galilei (Lot 1458) for 450,000gns, a daughter of Lemon Drop Kid and in-foal to Too Darn Hot and with black-type from the US. Second dam is Airwave, the champion two-year-old filly of 2022, winner of the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1), dam of four black-type winners, including Meow, dam of the champion two-year-old colt Churchill and the champion juvenile filly Clemmie. (20:00)

She was also bought online by Ace Stud, this time for 650,000gns. (19:29)
Lot 1441: the fast Listed Scurry Stakes winner Town And Country (Earthlight) is the third Group/Listed winner out of her dam, who was sold for 775,000gns at the 2024 December Mares Sale.
She was sold by Castledillon Stud for owners Mark Roden and Ray Nolan, and they spoke after Town And Country sold for 600,000gns to an online bid from Ace Stud.
"We are delighted," said Roden. "We are thrilled, we had mixed feelings whether to let her go or not, Henry [De Bromhead] has done a marvellous job bring her on over the last couple of years, winning the Scurry was a huge highlight, but we just felt now was the right time and let someone else have a bit of luck and breed from her.
"It has been great excitement, Ray is well used to a lot of excitement in business, and this is a different buzz. We really would have ben happy to take her back, but she has gone for fair value. We have only a couple in training and she was the only Flat runner, but we have ten mares at home at at Windgates Stud."
She was bought at October Book 1 in 2023 for 160,000gns by Windgates from Oghill Stud. (19:22)

She is the winner of three races and achieved a rating peak of 80 for trainer Roger Varian.
"I bought Hey Nay Nay [full-brother] for a client, we think he is a very nice horse and he got third in a graded race last night from a bad trip," said Ingordo. "It is a beautiful pedigree, she is gorgeous filly, I did some research on Charyn and he looks to be a good cover, I thought she was the prettiest physical coming up. It is a page that works here or back home, and she could go to visit Too Darn Hot, she is likely to stay in Europe,"
The juvenile colt Hey Nay Nay is with John Sadler, and finished third yesterday in the Cecil B DeMille Stakes (G3).

Chairman's statement
“The Tattersalls December Foal Sale has long been Europe’s premier foal sale thanks to the unwavering support of British and Irish breeders, and they have been rewarded with a sale that has produced a record median, alongside an average and turnover that have only been surpassed once – by last year’s extraordinary results.
“We have seen the highest-priced colt and filly sold in Europe this year, including the 1,150,000 guineas Frankel colt from James Wigan’s West Blagdon Stud. This represents the third-highest price ever achieved for a colt foal in Europe and is a fitting tribute to a consignment that is consistently one of the highlights of Europe’s premier foal sale.
“The sale’s market-leading status is further underlined by eight of the top ten prices in Britain and Ireland this year, a median that stands 40 per cent higher than that of our nearest competitor, and unrivalled average and turnover figures. The number of lots realising 50,000 guineas or more has also reached a record level.
“In addition to the continued support of the many pinhookers from Britain, Ireland, and further afield, Park Paddocks has once again attracted a substantial number of end-users, with buyers from China, Japan, and the USA joining their counterparts from across the Gulf and throughout Europe. The diversity at the top of the purchasers’ list is particularly gratifying, with the top ten lots bought by ten different individuals.
“We now look forward to the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, which features an outstanding collection of fillies and mares within the Sceptre Sessions, and to welcoming the usual wide cross-section of buyers to Tattersalls for Europe’s premier breeding stock sale.” ()

The filly is out of the Teofilo mare Thiel, the dam of one winner from one runner – Lakota Blue, who is a winner at two and three and achieved a BHA rating best of 91.
Grandam is Vista Bella, who won the Masaka Stakes (L) and was third in the 1,000 Guineas, while the third dam is Cox Orange, who won ten races, including five Group and Grade 3 races in France and the US.
Fourth dam is Spectacular Joke, who won the Prix Maurice de Gheest (G2) and the Prix du Palais-Royal (G3). She was dam of Amonita, whose eight race wins included the Prix Marcel Boussac (G1). (14:33)
Lot 1057: the Silfield Bloodstock-consigned son of first-season sireTriple Time makes 58,000gns and is bought by Egmont Stud.
He is out of the Montjeu mare Hasten, an own-sister to the Group 1 winner Jan Vermeer, and closely related to the Grade 1 winner Together. She is dam of three winners, headlined by the German Listed winner Cloud Surfing.
Silfield Bloodstock has sold six lots this week for an average price of 37,833gns and a top price of 90,000gns (Lot 584 by Shaquille). (13:59)
Lot 1039: the son of the first-season sire Chaldean is bought for 78,000gns.
The colt is out of Yarrow (Sea The Stars), who was Listed placed in the Pontefract Castle Stakes and is the dam of one winner. She is a half-sister to the Group 1 and 2000 Guineas winner Golan and to the Group 2 winner Tartan Bearer.
He was signed for by Carrigeen North and purchaser Padraic Gahan, the bloodstock and consigning executive for Baroda Stud, said: "Myself and David [Cox] saw him this morning and we liked him. We were watching the Chaldeans selling during the week, he’s a sire we wanted to use during the year but didn’t. We would have liked one, so we got one and he’ll be offered for resale next year.
"They’re very nice and this is a very good-moving colt. The mare has produced two highly-rated horses as well as being highly-rated herself, and she has a New Bay coming for her too.
"It seems everybody is still here, mares are starting to show now, too, so I’d better get back to my day job!"
Baroda Stud has 40 lots catalogued to sell next week. (12:50)
Lot 1036: the Havana Grey out of the black-type placed Thesme (Exceed And Excel) was bought by Hamish Macauley / Yeomanstown Stud for 170,000gns. It is the highest price given on a Saturday foal session since 2015 when Yeomanstown spent the same sum on a son of Dark Angel out of Welsh Angel.
"The best foal here today, we would have stood up well yesterday," said Macauley. "He has size and scope and will be re-offered next year. I think a lot of people appeared around the ring in the last 20 minutes before this guy went through! We had that sort of mark on him, and the think the market is unbelievably strong."
Thesme, who was a runner-up in the Scarborough Stakes (L), ran 22 times and never further than five and a half furlongs. She won three races and was placed 11 times. She is a daughter of Final Dynasty (Komaite), runner-up in the Land O'Burns Stakes (L) and the dam of Last Empire, winner of the Oak Tree Stakes (G3).
The colt was sold by West Moor Stud on behalf of breeder Simon Chappell and Kate Sigsworth said: "It has been a brilliant week, we have been really busy, which is great as you know you are going to sell well but it is tough on the foals, but they have taken it all really well. It is just a big thank you to everyone who helps at home, it is such a big team to get to this point. I'd also like to thank Yeomanstown as the farm has ben a really good supporter of outs.
"He was bred on the same cross as Vandeek, and he has not put a foot wrong here all week. He is a young foal so there should be some improvement in him still. I'd like to give a shout out to the stallion owners, Ed Harper has been brilliant with Havana Grey – he made his name with 'smaller' breeders and he really does try and help British and smaller breeders.
"I think the main feeling is relief and satisfaction, you always have some doubts, particularly as I live in North Yorkshire and I don't see a lot of foals and when I got down here, my brother [Matt Sigsworth, Cheveley Park Stud's bloodstock manager and head of nominations] helped unload and I asked him if they were going to be ok next to the others? And he told me they were fine.
"And then as people came round they told me they looked well, so I just thought then that I have done my job and they just need to hold it together now and show well, which they did. It does not always come off but it has today.
"The mare was very fast, and was raced by Simon. She we went to Havana Grey for last year's foal and got a filly, she has been retained and will go into training with Ed Bethell, and it was on the strength of her that we went back.
"She was a late foal and we had not booked anything in for the mare, I rang Whitsbury as Simon was thinking of Sergei Prokofiev, we thought Havana would be full. I was chatting to Joe Callan, who asked about the filly, and when I told him that she is very nice, he said that Havana Grey had had a lot of early mares and that he was more or less finished. He said that if we'd like to use him we could so I said 'Yes please!'
"I led up the Perfect Power [Lot 1037, 45,000gns] and I have a great girl Kirsty who helps me, and she has worked the sales for me for the last five or six years. I am very tall and, as this was the later foal and so a bit smaller, she led the Havana Grey up.
"I was still busy trying to show my foal, but I looked up and saw 80,000gns and thought that was ok and was happy with that. When he kept going I could not believe it. I have sold on a Saturday for years, it suits me, suits my consignment, I have mixed pedigrees and that is what traditionally Saturday is for, but I think it will be long time since one has made that much on a Saturday, I did not expect that and it is a lovely surprise.
"Simon is in Costa Rica and there is the a time difference, so I will ring him on the way home once he has properly woken up! I have messaged and he got back to me and said, 'Very happy Kate, thanks very much!'" (12:27)
Lot 1007: the Rajasinghe colt, offered by Charlock Stud, is bought by Phil Cunningham and Hetty Spencer for 52,000gns.
The colt is an own-brother to Cunningham's Two Tribes, winner of the Stewards' Cup and the International Handicap for the owner, and a star performer for the National Stud-based sire through the summer.
Two Tribes has travelled with trainer Richard Spencer's string to run in Dubai and the Middle East through the winter.
The full-siblings were both been bred by Carla Bowers and she was delighted with the result today and, with Graham Rylance, chatted to us about the sale.
"We are so pleased that Phil has bought the colt, Two Tribes was the first foal out of the mare and he was our first go at breeding out of a mare whom we were given by Julie Wood. We are so pleased he is going to an end user, and especially to Phil who has supported his stallion, supported us and now has bought his guy, it is the best result.
"The mare had an injury in training and we were working on her rehabilitation for Julie, she was ready to go back into training and Julie said that she'd had a think and offered her to us as a first broodmare to get us going breeding. So we took her, and our budget to cover her was Rajasinghe so that is where she went.
"We have been racing every time he has ran and Julie has come, Two Tribes beat her own horse Classic, and she was the first one over to congratulate us then, she is now at home in tears! A free mare from Julie and Chris we are so thankful.
"It has been an amazing year with Two Tribes, and Phil has been so kind sending us tickets to watch him.
"This foal is very similar, just a different colour – Two Tribes is ginger and this foal is bay, same white socks, same attitude, same work ethic, a nice solid good foal, which is what the mare produces with anything we put her to, which is a great attribute. She is not in-foal, next year our budget has gone up a bit now, so we need to put our thinking caps on, Starspangledbanner would be our first and the obvious choice.
"I sob at every foal sale, it was a brilliant and exciting result, we were hoping for something between 30,000gns and 40,000gns, but that has exceeded our expectations. We would have been happy to take him home and re-offer as a yearling, and the only proviso we have is that the mare pays for herself.
"She has done that, given herself a decent upgrade, and maybe we can have a holiday!" (11:23)
Lot 1002: the Shropshire-based Kinsale Stud gets its best result in the ring with a foal so far, the son of Dragon Symbol selling for 60,000gns. The colt is out of the two-year-old winner Aye Catcher (Showcasing), is a half-sister to Star Of Lady M and from the family of Fantastic Light, the champion older horse in Ireland of 2001.
Consignor Richard Kempster said: "We are chuffed to bits, he deserved that kind of money, he has been a gorgeous colt all the way along. We have always thought he was very smart, the pressure has been on to get him ready for today, but it has gone really smoothly, thankfully. We wanted to sell today as we felt we could be a bit of a standout on Day 4, but I do think he would have stood out any day."
Of the selection of Dragon Symbol, Kempster outlined: "We wanted to keep the speed element, and Whitsbury has been doing a great job with first-season sires so we have been following the farm for the last couple of years. He is a lovely stamp of a stallion himself and we thought he'd suit the mare.
"It was very nerve-wracking when this foal was going around the ring, but it has all come right on the day, and it is a big sigh of relief! A big thanks goes to the team at home."
Of the mare, he said: "We have had the mare a couple of years and we liked the Showcasing aspect, she won as a two-year-old, and the family down the page is really strong, we just hope it can continue. We had some bad luck with her first foal, he died in a paddock accident, but he was also a cracker and a strapping first foal, it has come good today." (11:19)
Lot 998: the Ardad colt from Barton Stud, bred by Victorious Racing Ltd, is sold for 30,000gns, consigned by Barton Stud.
The bay colt is out of the young mare El Gumryah (No Nay Never) the winner of one race and the dam of one winner from two runners. She is a half-sister to the Grade 2 winner Striking Dancer and the Group 2 winner Raymond Tusk, winner of the Gran Premio del Jockey Club (G2) and placed in the Sagaro Stakes (G3), the John Porter Stakes (G3), the Geoffrey Freer Stakes (G3) and the Aston Park Stakes (G3). Lot 950: the Kingman filly sold by Galloway Stud for breeder Gestut Rottgen is bought by Godolphin for 625,000gns.
She is a daughter of the Dubawi Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed mare Well Disposed, a half-sister to the 2017 German champion colt and Rottgen stallion Windstoss, winner of the Deutsches Derby and the Preis Von Europa (G1).
Frank Dorff, manager of the German farm, said: "She is very typical of the family, she looks just liker her mother. I am very happy she made a very good price, she has gone to a very good home, let's hope she is a Group 1 winner in Britain.
"She is a special one and we were very tempted to keep her, you don't often breed one with that quality, the market recognised that and sometimes you have to sell. The mare is in-foal to Frankel, and if it is a colt he will be a stallion prospect. We have not sold many from the family, we are not a commercial stud, we breed to produce good racehorses and later good broodmares.
"We decided to go to Kingman because it was the dream to breed a valuable broodmare prospect, I hate close inbreeding and she is open to nearly everything – that was the idea a behind the covering."
He continued: "Well Disposed won two Group races and was Group 1 placed, she was very tough, the whole family is incredibly tough – Windstoss ran 28 times and was placed 14 times in Group races. He is now a really promising young stallion at Rottgen."
Purchaser Anthony Stroud said: “She’s a lovely filly with a very good pedigree. After she’s been to the races we’ll be able to breed her to quite a lot of stallions, like Frankel. If you’re thinking long-term she’ll be a good addition to the stud. She’s the only one we’ve bid on today. It’s a fantastic page full of champions.” (19:16)
Lot 932: the son of Frankel out of Sunday Star, a Kodiac half-sister to Starman, winner of the Group 1 July Cup for owner David Ward, is sold to Ed Sackville for 700,000gns, and was consigned by Whatton Manor Stud on behalf of the breeder David Ward, who also bred and raced Starman.
Ed Player of Whatton Manor Stud said: "It is fantastic to have a Frankel to sell, and this colt is a lovely horse. He is a late foal and there is a lot of maturing to do, but he has a lovely walk. I hope, and am sure, he will grow into a cracking yearling and racehorse.
"He was bred by David Ward, the pedigree needs no introduction, Starman has had the most incredible first season, and I think he is going to get even better – his horses are scopey and they stay a mile, he is going to be the real deal as a stallion. There is no reason why this lad can't turn into a stallion, too. I am delighted for David, he puts lot into it, and he has had a fantastic year on the track and with the stallion."
Simon Sadler, standing in the bidders with Sackville and Walker, said: "Today has been a great day – we saw Frankel this morning and now have bought a Frankel related to Starman, perfect. I am very much looking forward to next season and we just want to win as many Group 1 races as TBT Racing can – and to beed one.
Of the decision to sell, Player explained: "There is always temptation to keep, but David owns the full-sister Sunday Girl in training, and she is pretty smart, hopefully she will win her maiden and could be a black-type filly. He has lots of horses in training and some point you have to cash in."
Player finished off: "Simon Sadler has had a lot of luck buying from the farm, including the runner-up in this year's Coventry Stakes [Do Or Do Not], and he also has a two-year-old filly with Ed Walker, who they think is very good." (18:37)
Lot 908: the Wootton Bassett colt, consigned by Baroda Stud, is bought for 550,000gns by Paddy Twomey Racing \ Bond Thoroughbreds.
"He is a lovely horse, has been bought to race, the new owners have had a lot of success with Wootton Bassett and very excited to get him," said Twomey.
Bond Thoroughbreds raced the Group 1 Prix de la Foret winner Maranoa Charlie, a son of the late sire.
The colt is out of the Galileo mare First Flower and was bred by Diamond Creek Farm. First Flower is an own-sister to the Group 1 winner Hydrangea, Hermosa, The United States and to Salsa, the dam of the Pretty Polly Stakes and Nassau Stakes winner Whirl, a daughter of Wootton Bassett.
Since the catalogue was published Hydrangea's third foal Hawk Mountain, also by Wootton Bassett, has won the Group 1 Futurity Trophy Stakes.
David Cox of Baroda Stud said: "He is a homebred for Diamond Creek Stud based in America, they asked me what I thought he going to make, and I said 'I hope he is going to make between 400,000gns and 600,000gns'. He took a bit of time to get there, but then it got rolling and wish the best of luck to Paddy and Bond Thoroughbreds.
"From when he arrived he was totally chilled out and showed himself well, and obviously they are not making any more by the stallion, but typicallythey all have good minds. This lad ticks a lot of boxes."
He added: "It is a very strong market."
Paraic Gahan of Baroda said: "We met him here. He is a lovely colt who was very popular, he had plenty of vettings, and is a real collector’s item. It’s a robust market, and if you come here with something that people want, you get well rewarded." (17:36)
