Sold by breeder Airlie Stud, the filly is another purchase by Godolphin.

Airlie's Anthony Rogers said, "It is a great price; he is a lovely horse. You can never believe that you are going to get a million for a horse. Dane Street has been an amazing mare for us, and we failed to sell her here about 15 years go! She is still breeding, but she has had a rest this year."

He is the second best-priced yearling by Too Darn Hot to sell at a European auction.

The farm is looking forward to selling Lot 424 on Thursday, a Sea The Stars filly out of Skitter Scatter. (15:30)

"He is from a very good stud farm," said Stroud of the colt sold by Longview Stud. "He is by Sea The Stars and from a great Rothschild family that goes well with sire. This colt is majestic the way he moves and walks, he is a lovely horse. He stood out for us and is the one we really wanted."

He added: "You have to pay for the ones you really want, and he was that horse. You always have to pay more than you want!"

Dam Crystal Zvezda (Dubawi), winner of the Newbury Filles Trial (L), is a half-sister to Crystal Ocean (Sea The Stars), the champion older horse of 2019 and winner of the Prince Of Wales's Stakes and placed five times at the top level.

Crystal Zvezda was bought for 775,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale in 2022 when sold as part of the Southcourt Stud dispersal.

It is the highest-priced sale for Longview at Tattersalls, and its fourth seven-figure sale. (15:16)

The colt is a half-brother to San Donato, a Group 2 winner, and is from the extended family of Superstar Leo, the 2000 European champion two-year-old filly, and grand-dam of the three-time Prix de la Foret winner One Master.

The April-born colt, the second-most expensive by Blue Point sold at public auction and the sire's second millionaire yearling, was sold by Ballyhimikin Stud. The colt is the most expensive yearling sold in the ring so far out of the mare.

"He is a super horse, he never turned a hair all week," said Ballyhimikin's James Hanly. "He travelled very well, he settled in well here, he showed so many times. A week ago he was out in a field, without a rug, rolling in mud and covered in mud! We like to keep them out as much as possible." (14:16)

By Kingman, the colt is a half-brother to Running Lion, the Group 2 winner, the Group 1-placed and successful in the John Musker Stakes (L) since the catalogue was published, to Majestic Glory, winner of the Sweet Solera Stakes (G3), and Runman. He is a 2023-born son of Frankel and winner of his maiden on debut.

His dam Bella Nouf is a Dansili close-relation to Nouriya, dam of Aljazzi. (13:20)

The Newsells Park stud-offered colt is a first foal out of Beauty Stone (Australia), winner of five races and a half-sister to Fawkner Park and Saracen Knight, both Group 2 winners in Australia. (13:12)

It is also the family of the Duke Of York Stakes (G2) winner Tasleet, who is out of a half-sister to Anna Law, dam of this colt.

The enthusiastic buyer, who has owned horses in Japan for 30 years but who is enjoying a first visit to Tattersalls and was standing at the rail in the bidders, outlasted agent Amanda Skiffington, who was in the gangway.

It was a second purchase for Kusama, who had spent 200,000gns on the Meon Valley Stud-sold Palace Pier filly out of the Epsom Oaks (G1) winner Anapurna (Lot 25).

The horses will be trained by Haruki Sugiyama, who is based at Ritto Training Centre. (12:33)

The Frankel colt is an own-brother to the filly Partying, who was bought here last year by Amo for 4,400,000gns and is in training with Kevin Philippart De Foy. The pair are out of the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes (G2) winner Aljazzi (Shamardal), who was bought here for a million in the Autumn Horses in Training Sale in 2018.

"The boys loved him, we could not let him go, we want to keep the family tight and see how the family works out – obviously if he becomes a good horse, he is going to be a stallion," said Kia Joorabchian, who was bidding to the podium outside the ring. "He probably goes to Freemason."

He added: "Obviously, we like the filly, though she has not run yet. This is a different project – if she does not run she still has a huge residual value as a broodmare, and we have five stallions; if he does not, then it is a different kettle of fish. We paid more than expecting, then we are up against Coolmore and it is five [partners] against one. It is an early strike!"

Consignor Julian Dollar of Newsells Park Stud said: "Honestly, when I did the budget in December, I put a 'measly' half a million to him; he was a big raw Frankel, but he has really come together through the year, especially in his prep.

"Coming in here, I thought there was a chance he might make seven figures, it was a bit like the filly last year. But, when two big hitters lock horns, there is always a chance they can make unbelievable amounts, which that was."

When asked if that sale took the pressure off early in a busy and important week for Newsells Park, Dollar laughed: "Yes, a lot! This really helps. These horses are expensive to produce, the nominations are expensive, and we are very fortunate to sometimes get rewarded. Sometimes the harvest does not always go as well as expected, but that was a nice result." (12:11)

Bayside Boy was also third in the Dewhurst Stakes (G1) and the Futurity Stakes (G1). (11:29)

She is a half-sister to Madhmoon, a Group 2 winner of the Golden Fleece Stakes and fourth in the Epsom Derby (G1). (11:10)

Atomic Lady has black-type form from a third placing in the Ripson Champion 2yo Trophy, and she is a a grand-daughter of Flirtation, the dam of Atraction, the European champion two-year-old filly in 2003, the European champion three-year-old filly of 2024, a five-time Group 1 winner and dual 1,000 Guineas winner.

The colt is a sixth purchase for Cunningham today, the sextet bought for an outlay of 577,000gns and an average price of 96,167gns. (19:53)

The bay filly, by Blue Point and out of the unraced Amethystos (Danehill Dancer), is bought by James Tate for Rabbah Bloodstock. She is the eighth lot to sell for 100,000gns or more today, a record for the Somerville Sale.

Lanark Bloodstock is the emerging business concern for Jake Scott Campbell, who is from Celbridge in Kildare. He learnt the art of preparing yearlings at Monceaux and Tally-Ho.

He completed the Irish National Stud Thoroughbred Breeding Course in 2021 where he was awarded the Gold Medal for "demonstrating an outstanding performance in all aspects of the course", and also has an MSc in International Business.

"This is the first horse I have consigned, and she belongs to a client Richard Frayne, who is a great supporter, and it was one of my very first mating plans," said Scott Campbell, who is into his third year working with Alex Elliott and prepped this filly in stables belonging to Pat Beirne, Kilcock. "We used Blue Point in year four; he was easier to use in that year and it has paid off.

"She is a lovely filly, I prepped her and I enjoyed working with her, and I'd like to thank Richard for his support and also my mum Tara, she has been very helpful. I grew up prepping yearlings with her and this is our first one back together, and she offered lots of assistance. Pat Beirne has also been very supportive and let me use his stables and facilities."

Of the name of his business, Scott Campbell explained: "Lanark is where my grandfather on Mum's side is from, so there is a family connection, too."

Of expectations coming into the ring, he said: "I was expecting six figures, we had a lot of shows and vets and as soon as I saw everyone lined up, I was expecting six figures. I was leading up, so I could not see too much!

"It is great to get the first one done, and hopefully we will have a few more next year."

He added: "To get yourself out there, you need to have them looking well and you need a result, hopefully this will get the ball rolling. We decided to come to this sale rather than Book 2 so she would standout. There are holes there, and I think people would have exploited that in Book 2.

"This is a massive result for Richard, too, he is looking to expand. I think I made the right call coming here, and I hope Richard is happy – I will go and call him now!"

Amethystos has produced three winners, and this filly is a half-sister to Sankari Royale, runner-up in the St Hugh's Stakes (L) and fourth in the Round Tower Stakes (G3). Her grand-dam is Amethyst, whose career highlight came when second in the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

There is winning Guineas form in the pedigree – King Of Kings, who is out of this filly's third dam and is an own-brother to Amethyst, won the 2,000 Guineas in 1998 having collected the National Stakes (G1) and the Railway Stakes (G2) as a juvenile.

Blue Point has had three lots all sell today for an average price of 90,667gns, a median of 92,000gns and a turnover of 272,000gns. Rabbah Bloodstock bought two of his yearlings earlier today, going to 92,000gns for Lot 15, the colt out of Grammata and sold by Ballyhimikin. (18:34)

First-crop yearling sire Bayside Boy won the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (G1) and the Champagne Stakes (G2), and was also third at Group 1 level in the Dewhurst Stakes (G1) and the Futurity Stakes (G1).

He stands at Ballylinch Stud at a fee of €12,500.

She also goes to 72,000gns for the Persian Force filly from Tally-Ho Stud (Lot 190) and out of Wall Of Sapphire (Lawman). (16:49)

This colt was bought by Durcan Bloodstock for 135,000gns from Plantation Stud. He is out of the Showcasing mare Sweet Gardenia, winner of the El Gran Senor Stakes (L) and fourth in the Round Tower Stakes (G3).

"The sire is red hot, I am over the moon to have her, I am not sure who will train her yet," said Durcan.

Sweet Gardenia was bought by Plantation Stud for 165,000gns at the Tattersalls December Sale 2022. Her first foal Twist Or Stick (Mehmas) has been placed twice at two since the catalogue was published. (16:31)

The colt was purchased by Bromley with trainer Eve Johnson-Houghton for Somerville graduate Havana Hurricane's owners.

"This yearling just looked a dinger of a horse, and he looks hardy, and I did not expect to give as much as we did, it was more than we have done all day. Eve had a feeling about him and I am pleased that she did," he smiled.

The colt's page has enjoyed a recent update – his half-sister Anaisa (Ardad) won the Ripon Champion 2yo Trophy for breeder and trainer Tim Easterby.

Bromley continued: "The Ardad half-sister has been a right runner, this is a good pedigree and he is out of a Kingman mare. There is lots to like!"

Mattmu finished third as a three-year-old in the Nunthorpe Stakes (G1) and won the Phoenix Sprint Stakes (G3). At two, he was successful in France as winner of the Criterium de Maisons Laffitte (G2). (16:16)

The siblings are out of Seafront, who was bought by Yeomanstown from Godolphin for 270,000gns at the Tattersalls December Sale 2017. She was a winner as a juvenile and finished second in the Balachine Stakes (G3) for trainer James Tate. It is the further family of Lochsong, the winner of 15 races and the champion older mare of 1993.

"She’s been bought for Will Sangwin. We have all of our horses so far together in France, and we’ve had a lot of luck out there. Will’s based up in Yorkshire [near Beverley] and was keen to have a horse over here," said Barnett/

"I had a two-year-old with Karl lBurke] last year called Antonin Dvorak, he was the only yearling for our syndicate and he won a couple and then sold very well here. That prompted the decision to go back to Karl here.

"We had a good go at the Dark Angel earlier and underbid him and this was next on the list. It’s just a coincidence they’re both by Dark Angel. Obviously this filly has a very strong page and looks a lovely, precocious type. Hopefully she’s one that’ll crack on early next year."

So far, Dark Angel has had five lots sell so far for an average price of 83,000gns and a turnover of 415,000gns. (15:17)

“He’s going breezing," said Tom Whitehead of Powerstown. "The stallion is flying and this is a nice horse. I’ll probably bring him back here [for the Craven] if the wheels stay on the wagon. Hopefully, he’ll be lucky. The market seems to be strong here today.”

Pooky was a 17,000gns purchase by Tally-Ho Stud at the Tattersalls July Sale in 2021. (13:54)

He is out of the Oasis Dream mare Oasis Sunset, the dam of three winners, including Flash Gordon (Kodiac), third in the Lacken Stakes (G3). She is a half-sister to the 1999 champion two-year-old Seazun. (13:19)

The filly, bred and sold by Moote Coote Stud, is out of the Dandy Man mare Natural Instinct, a Dandy Man half-sister to Zanetto, winner of the Carnarvon Stakes (L) and placed second in the Sirenia Stakes (G3).

Coleman added: "We are trying to target a few horses at each sale, and this is a filly we like from a very good farm. The mare's first foal by Gregorian was rated 88 and I like buying out of mares who are proven producers. The Dark Angel cross over Dandy Man has produced three horses rated over 95.

"This is probably a 6f to 7f filly, and probably one for the second half of the season, she won't be early. She has enough size and scope to train on at three, she is one here today who I think could have been in the Book 2 catalogue – she has a bit of style and quality."

Of ongoing plans he said: "We might buy a few dual-purpose horses, but we are basically having a look at every sale and at different prices, though we won't be breaking any records! Rebecca is ambitious – she has had black-type Flat horses before and she is keen to make more of that side of her business." (13:10)

The owner, who was buying his second today, referenced the colt's January 3 foaling date and laughed, "I think this is the earliest foaling date of one I have seen! The optimistic trainer tells me he will be our first runner next year."

Trainer Richard Spencer justified his view by saying, "He looks an early fast sort, he is from a fast family, we have had luck with the sire, and hopefully we can get him out early."

Of his current buying policy, Cunningham said: "We have got some more expensive horses, and more precocious types to crack on with and it seems to be going well – as long as they keep winning, we will keep buying!"

The colt, bred by Grangemore Stud & Cavalier Bloodstock, is the first foal out of Measure Of Magic (Kodi Bear), a dual Listed winner and third in the Commonwealth Cup (G1). (12:53)

The filly is out of the Royal Applause mare Madam Baroque, the dam of one winner and a half-sister to the Australian Listed winner and Group 2-placed Johann Zoffany.

She was pinhooked by James Coburn at the Tattersalls December Sale for just 12,000gns. (12:23)

"She is a very nice horse, by a very exciting stallion, reared by a great farm and near the pick of the fillies today," said Jono Mills of Rabbah. "She is a balanced, attractive horse, and we are hopeful she will be a proper two-year-old."

A smiling Jenny Norris said: "She has been extremely busy, we have had plenty of vets, which gives you confidence, and she vetted clean. It is lovely for Lord Margadale; he was not going to give her away, he has had the whole family and it is close to his heart, but I said we could be brave as she has been very popular. We sold Francisco's Piece as a foal here and Windstormblack at this sale; it is a lovely family."

She added: "We did not expect her to make quite that much, but we had targeted this sale to be a standout. The pedigree is strong enough to go later, but the pedigree has done so well here that we'd keep that trend going. It's a good start to the Tattersalls season for us – let's hope she goes on to become a Royal Ascot winner!"

The French Listed winner Francisco's Piece and the Premio Primi Passi (G3) winner Windstormblack are two of the five winners out of the mare Josfa Goya, a daughter of Sakhee's Secret and a half-sister to Intrepid Jack, winner of the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes winner.

"She is a very good-looking filly, a bit of a standout for the whole team today – everyone put her up to Kia independently," said Alex Elliott, laughing: "Kia got here in good time after the transfer window closed late last night, I was a bit worried he wouldn't, especially as she was in early.

"He is always pleased to support his stallions, and we all thought she was one of the nicest horses here today. There is quite a long list of trainers after her!"

The February-born filly's first three dams are all black-type – Hoodna is out of the Bosra Sham Stakes (L) third-placed Hoodna, the dam of four winners, including Dubai Domination, runner-up in the Flying Scotsman Stakes (L), third in the Stonehenge Stakes (L), and fourth in the Prix Thomas Bryon (G3).

Second dam is the Listed winner Heaven's Cause, and her third is the US Grade 3 winner and the French Listed winner Heaven's Command. (11:39)

The gelding is out of Time Tunnel (Invincible Spirit), who was bought from the Juddmonte draft at the 2019 Tattersalls December Mares Sale for 260,000gns by Blandford, and is a half-brother to the German Listed winner Topanga.

Second dam is Juddmonte's Group 1 Falmouth Stakes winner Timepiece, and it is the family of Passage Of Time, Time Test, Father Time, and Twice Over. (21:25)

After the bidding opened up online at 100,000gns, it was a case of two online bidders taking each other on until the ring came to life to take on the online interest around 300,000gns. Bidders included Debbie Mountain, Martin Buick, Dr Khaled Salami of KGS Bloodstock, and, coming in at 500,000gns, Richard Brown of Blandford.

The bidding battle developed into a fight between Salami, who was standing by the back door, online interest and Brown, with the latter eventually holding sway at the record price.

"The horse won at Royal Ascot, didn't have the smoothest passage in the race but still found a way to win," reported Brown. "It is rare for a Royal Ascot winner to come onto the market, and he is still relatively lightly raced. The plan looks like he is going to go back to Andrew [Balding] with potentially a Middle Eastern campaign ahead , but we will give him a break now."

He added: "You have got to buy them first, but we hope he has got a good future ahead."

When asked when Quai De Bethune came onto the radar, he said: "He was third in the London Gold Cup, which is always a good race – we bought Ernst Blofeld out of the race – and the form has certainly worked out for this horse. We were then impressed with him at Ascot."

And of the price, he said: "It was a stronger price than I thought – it is just quite rare for a Royal Ascot winner to come to auction straight after, and it was never going to be easy."

Quai De Bethune was bred by Ecurie X and was bought as a yearling by Richard Venn Bloodstock and owner Gary Gillies for €75,000. (21:13)

"It is the same story – he is for the big race in Libya, I think he will get the Classic distance, and he is a very sound horse," said the purchaser. (20:35)

The three-year-old maiden filly is by Zoustar, and was bred by Coln Valley Stud. (20:14)

Corolla Point (Lot 862) a son of Blue Point, winner on debut as a two-year-old last autumn, and is rated 81, Wild Nature, by Kingman, is rated 90 and won last December off a mark of 85. He is out of the May Hill Stakes (G2) runner-up Grecian Light, and is a close relation to the Listed winner and Group 3-placed Whispering Light. “He’ll go to Bahrain to be aimed at the international series races,” said Nass. “He needs to improve his handicap mark of 77, but hopefully he does. We’ll see how he progresses. "He gets the Classic distance, we are targeting the big races in Libya at the end of October," said Ali A Aneizi of Al Watan Club. "He is by New Bay, he has muscle and size, is a strong horse and I hope he will handle the Dirt track."

Explaining a little further, Aneizi said: "We are a racing club based in Benghazi . We have around 36 horses in the club, and there are 200 thoroughbreds trained in the city."

Hi Y Mal, sold by Kingsclere Training Stables, is the winner of one race over 1m4f. He has run eight times, and collected four placings, including when second last time out at Doncaster. (18:30)
