Lot 262: the only lot in the sale by Advertise, sire of this season's Gimcrack Stakes (G2) winner Cool Hoof Luke, a graduate of the Tattersalls Ireland September sale, makes 40,000gns.
The colt, a half-brother to a dual winner in France, was sold by Kildaragh Stud and bought by JS Bloodstock and Andrew Balding, trainer of the juvenile Group 2 winner.
The Manton Park Stud-based sire has eight entries across October Book 2 and Book 3, and two catalogued in the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale, including Lot 172, a colt due to be consigned by Kildaragh Stud. (11:25)
Lot 258: Anna Sundstrom's Coulonces Sales has is consigning two lots at the Somerville Sale and the first up, this filly by first-crop sire A'ALi and out of Maid A Million (Kyllachy), fetches 32,000gns, an increase from her foal price of 11,000gns when bought by SFB2 Invest / Capucines Bloodstock.
The mare was the winner of two races and placed 11 times, including in the October Stakes (L). She is the dam of two winners from four runners and is a half-sister to the Fred Darling Stakes (G3) winner Dandhu (Dandy Man).
It is the further family of the Group 2-winning and Group 1-placed sprinter Invincible Army as well as Hoh Magic, the European champion juvenile of 1994. (11:06)
Lot 245: the Havana Grey form continues, this filly by the sire and sold by Whitsbury Manor Stud makes 55,000gns bought by J B Bloodstock.
She is out of the three-time winner Little Clarinet (Requinto), the dam of one winner from one runner – Looby, a full-sister to this filly and a winner at two.
Little Clarinet is a half-sister to the Nijinsky Stakes (L) runner-up Macbeth (Acclamation). (10:43)

Lot 224: the Big Eves and Big Mojo team of trainer Mick Appleby, sporting a Big Evs baseball cap, and agent Conor Quirke spend 75,000gns on this colt by Showcasing from Whitsbury Manor Stud. The pair are with owner Jeremy Young, who has the 98-rated Shagraan, a winner at Goodwood at the Qatar Festival, in training with Appleby, the purchased signed under the J & A Young (Leicester) / Quirke Bloodstock buying partnership.
"I love Showcasing," said the trainer, adding: "He is very much a favourite sire. We have waited for this horse, we all picked him out. His full-sister looks to have ability and he comes from a great farm."
That sister Fondest Dream, a 2023 graduate of this sale, is the winner of one race from one start and is entered in the 7f £150,000 Tattersalls Auction Stakes for horses sold at this sale and in Book 3 and Book 4, due to be run on October 4.
Big Evs and Big Mojo are both Tattersalls graduates, bought at the October Sale and the December Sale respectively. (18:33)
Lot 219: the Invincible Spirit half-brother to the Listed winner and Group 3-placed Action Point is bought by Middleham Park Racing / Alice Haynes for 70,000gns.
He was pinhooked as a foal by Loughmore Stables for €22,000 and is from the family of the Gimcrack Stakes (G2) runner-up Well Done Fox, who now stands at stud in India at Star Born Stud. (18:30)
Lot 200: "I liked him when I saw him and I liked him even more when he came into the ring, he showed himself off really well," said trainer Clive Cox after going to 85,000gns for the Sands Of Mali colt out of two-year-old winner Island Drive (Kodiac) and sold by Barton Stud.
"He is out of a Kodiac mare and although I have not yet had any by the sire, I remember him running well and often against Harry Angel. He has been bought for an owner, which needs a call to confirm!" said Cox. "There is plenty of stock around, and it is being able to pick and buy the ones you are pleased to take home, and this fella certainly fits the bill."
The mare has produced one winner from one runner and she is out of the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes winner Redstone Dancer (Namid). (17:29)
Lot 159: 16-year-old Ruairi Kilmartin gets a dream start to his career as a pinhooker – the young man sells his filly by Dark Angel for 70,000gns having bought her, signing as RK Bloodstock, for just €7,000 last November.
"It is unbelievable, when I bought her as foal I thought I might be able to double my money, I never thought she would make that today, I am over the moon," he said of his first foray into the world of buying and selling horses.
Going on to explain why she appealed to him last November, he said: "She is by Dark Angel, her dam is a half-sister to Mehmas so it is all speed, and she is a bulky sort, I thought she looked like she would be able to run fast. Her full-sister had been placed in a Listed race and we hoped she would go on to get some more black-type, and luckily she did. It is the stuff of dreams, really."
Coming to Tattersalls with his father Dermot to sell under the family's Kildallan Farm banner the young man kept his hopes in the "realistic" category, proving that he is somewhat wise beyond his young years.
"Our expectations were high, but they were low at the same time, you never know in this game what is going to happen. To be honest, it was emotional watching her sell, and I am just so happy," he said, remembering, like all successful consignors, to acknowledge his purchasers and bidders: "I want to thank buyer Paul Corrigan and the underbidder Roger O'Callaghan, without Roger it wouldn't have happened, we got lucky."
Of future career plans there might be some family debate, especially as the young man is going into his transition year: "We will see, but my Dad tells me to stick to the books. I have been going around with Roger and he has been really helpful, I expect I will end up at Tally-Ho Stud."
He also admitted that he has had to skive a day off school to be at Tattersalls today and is heading back on Wednesday – he will have plenty to tell his schoolmates and his teachers about how to make money selling horses.
It could be a decent couple of days for Kildallan Farm as tomorrow the team is consigning the Inns Of Court half-brother to the Group 2 winner and the recent Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes runner-up Believing (Lot 279); and our young man reports that the colt is going "down very well" with the viewers.
And so, to sign off, what plans does young Kilmartin have with today's profit?
"We'll see you back here at Tattersalls at the foal sales in December!" he says with a smile. (16:43)
Lot 154: Richard Ryan buys for Teme Valley, going to 100,000gns for the Starman filly out of Get Up And Dance (Makfi), sold by breeder Tally-Ho Stud.
"She is a lovely filly, the mare is proven and she will be the first Teme Valley horse with Karl Burke," said Ryan. "I have been looking for a nice horse for Karl for some time and she fits all the criteria – she is out of a proven mare, is a half-sister to a Palace House winner [Seven Questions], Karl trained Boogie Time and felt this was a step up as an individual, she has a great mind and a lot to like with a fabulous walk."
He added: "I like the sire and I quite like them as a bunch and think he has got every chance."
Of having to spending a six-figure sum on the filly's purchase, he said: "A good model and a half-sister to a stakes winner is going to cost this sort of money, I was hoping for a bit less! We will race, her and she might be in the shop window in future, but she has a great residual value, which helps."
It is fast family throughout – dam is a half-sister to the Temple Stakes (G2) winner and King's Stand Stakes (G1) third-placed Pearl Secret, and the extended family includes Palacegate Episode, the granddam of Dutch Art. (15:53)
Lot 119: "The first thing to say is that he is for sale!" laughed Mark McStay of Avenue Bloodstock after going to 70,000gns for this colt by the Whitsbury Manor Stud-based sire Sergei Prokofiev, and bred and consigned by Whitsbury, too.
"He has been bought by trainer Alice Haynes, he looks a very fast horse, he without an owner but hopefully by the next couple of days someone will ring and buy him<' added McStay. "He is a very sharp-looking horse an is going to a trainer we all know is very good at getting these two-year-olds out and having lots of success. He has been well presented by Whitsbury and is out of a mare who has done it already."
McStay, who was sat on the far acorn with Haynes, continued: "He looks every inch a two-year-old. Sergei was a fast horse, seems to be getting fast horse and seems to be holding his own. We had to push the boat out, there were five or six different bidders at different stages, and think Mark Grant was our direct under bidder – he produced Bradsell whom he bought at this sale, so that tells us all that we need to know about his judgement."
Haynes added: "Enquiries to me!"
At this sale last year Grant went to 52,000gns for the 2022-born Showcasing colt out of this dam Enchanted Linda (Charm Spirit). She was a winner at two and three and is dam of Havana Ball (Havana Grey), a Listed winner in Germany over 7f in May for trainer Archie Watson.
Enchanted Linda was bought by Whitsbury Manor for 11,000gns at the Tattersalls December Sale in 2019. (14:35)
Lot 90: Powerstown Stud's Tom Whitehead goes to 72,000gns for the Havana Grey colt, the first foal out of the Footstepsinthesand mare Deep Impression and offered by Pier House Stud.
"He is from a fast family and has been bought to breeze," said Whitehead. "I have not had any to breeze by Havana Grey so far, but have bred to him and he has been lucky for me."
The dual winner Deep Impression is a half-sister to the nine-time winner and South African Group race winner Gorongosa (Montjeu), dam of the South African black-type winner Shangani and Chitengo. (13:43)
Lot 67: Micheal Conaghan's Evergreen Stud sells this French-bred filly by Hello Youmzain, who is the sire of eight first-crop winners, for 50,000gns to Beechlea Bloodstock.
She is out of the mare Colonaide (Almanzor) from the family of the German Group 1 winners and champions Schiaparelli, Salve Regina, Sea Moon, Seismos and Samum.
The filly was pinhooked as a foal for €25,000 last winter by Moanmore Stables and Evergreen Stud. (13:30)
Lot 64: this colt by Sergei Prokofiev, who has had such a good time of it with his first crop of runners and is the leading European first-season sire by winners and prize-money earnings, sells for 52,000gns and is bought by Karl Burke.
Dam Clouds Rest, the winner of three races at two, is the dam of five winners from six runners, including Tenaya Canyon (Due Diligence), who has two Listed placings to her name.
Gilt Edge Girl, a half-sister of granddam Ahwahnee (Compton Place), boasts Group 1 success as the winner of the Prix de l'Abbaye, her half-brother Godfrey Street won the Flying Childers Stakes (G2) and half-sister Tamora is granddam of Arabian Dusk, winner of this year's Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (G2). (12:58)
Lot 47: "George has had a lot of luck with Dandy Man," said Billy Jackson Stops after signing with trainer George Scott for this colt by the sire, consigned by Barton Stud.
"He is an athletic sort, the mare has already proved that she can do it, and I think he is good value."
The colt is a half-brother to this year's Listed Royal Ascot Windsor Castle Stakes winner Ain't Nobody (Sands Of Mali) and out of the mare Burmese Waltz (Showcasing), the winner of two races at two and four and placed four times, including in the Silver Wokingham Handicap.
That luck that Scott has enjoyed with the sire has come courtesy of the speedy Rocket Rodney, whom he trains for Victorious Racing. The four-year-old has won three races, including the Listed Dragon Stakes as a juvenile and the Al Riffa Cup in Qatar in December. (12:03)
Lot 37: Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock go to 40,000gns for the Norris Bloodstock-consigned colt by A'Ali, whose first-crop are yearlings of this year.
He is out of the unraced Berkshire Honey (Sakhee's Secret), the headline performers in the pedigree being Bomb Alaska, winner of the Listed Ben Marshall Stakes and placed 14 times including in the Gordon Richards Stakes (G3), and his dam So True, a runner-up in the Musidora Stakes (G3) and the St Simon Stakes (G3).
Berkshire Honey has had one winner so far – Jojo Rabbit who won six races and achieved a BHA rating high of 89.
A'Ali, by Society Rock and standing at Newsells Park Stud, won five stakes races, four times at Group 2 level – the 5f Flying Childers Stakes (G2), the Sapphire Stakes (G2), the Prix Robert Papin (G2) and the Norfolk Stakes (G2). (11:53)
Lot 23: the colt by first-crop yearling sire, Starman, the first yearling colt through the Tattersalls ring by the stallion, makes 52,000gns bought by Will Edmeades Bloodstock.
He is the first foal out of the the Kodiac mare Aurora Eclipse, the winner of two races and fourth in the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes. She is a half-sister to the German Listed winner Swift Approval and from the further family of Anthem Alexander, Lady Alexander and Dandy Man. (11:26)
Lot 8: the first of two lots due through the ring by Lope de Vega makes 62,000gns and is bought by Andrew Oliver.
He is out of Alienate (Oasis Dream), a half-sister to Logician (Frankel), the champion three-year-old stayer in Europe of 2019 and winner of the St Leger, and to Suffused, a Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed in the US.
It is the Juddmonte-developed family of Cityscape, Bated Breath and Equilateral.
The May-born colt is a half-brother to the Group 2-placed Lmay (Frankel), who finished fourth in the Group 2 T.von Zastrow Stutenpreis over 1m4f on Saturday. (10:52)
Lot 2: the very first lot in this morning gets us off to a flyer... the colt by Acclamation, out of Adelante (Zoffany) and from Loughtown Stud in Ireland is bought by Oliver St Lawrence Bloodstock for 75,000gns.
Adelante is a winner and was black-type placed in a Listed sprint in Germany and has had one runner from one foal of racing age.
Buyer Oliver St Lawrence, said: "He is a nice horse from good vendors in the Burns family. He is a nice honest colt by Acclamation, and he ticks the boxes, and is for Fawzi Nass." (10:33)

Tattersalls July Sale
Chairman's Statement: At the conclusion of the 2024 Tattersalls July Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented;
“The combination of top-class racing at Newmarket’s July Meeting and the quality bloodstock on offer at the Tattersalls July Sale makes this one of the most enjoyable weeks of the European racing and sales calendar and as ever Europe’s premier midsummer sale has attracted an extraordinarily diverse crowd of buyers to Park Paddocks.
“A smaller catalogue and one perhaps lacking a little of the depth which produced the record breaking 2023 July Sale has understandably produced a set of figures which have not quite matched the heights of last year. Nevertheless, there has been sustained demand at all levels of the market which has resulted in an enviable clearance rate yet again in excess of 90 per cent and a record-equalling number of horses selling for 250,000 guineas or more.
“So often we reflect on the sheer number of overseas buyers drawn to sales of this nature at Tattersalls and yet again the international buyers have played a huge part in the success of the past three days. Participation from throughout the Gulf region has been prolific as ever, Australian and New Zealand buyers continue to demonstrate their appetite for quality European middle-distance performers and we have had buyers from throughout Europe, India, Japan, Libya, Turkey and first-time visitors from Indonesia all making significant contributions alongside their British and Irish Flat and National Hunt counterparts.
“We should also recognise the importance of the consistent support we receive from so many of the world’s leading owner/breeders. Regular high-class consignments from the likes of Coolmore, Godolphin, Juddmonte and Shadwell are hugely enticing and consistently attract international owners and breeders confident that they will be able to access some of the finest bloodlines to be found anywhere in the world at Tattersalls.” (10:00)

Lot 829A: the progressive and lightly raced Swindon (Wootton Bassett), from William Haggas' Somerville Lodge Ltd. draft, is bought by the Libyan syndicate Sky Racing for 175,000gns, outbidding Oliver St Lawrence and team.
A spokesperson for Sky Racing said: "This syndicate is organising racing in Libya and we have horses in Dubai and Libya. We hope this horse will go to Dubai, and also take in a big race in Libya at the end of October at the National Shooting and Equestrian Club in Libya, that will be the main target.
"The owners of the syndicate are pushing hard to improve the racing industry in Libya and there is good prize-money for the race in October.
"There are also stallions and broodmares travelling to Libya, too."
Alessandro Marconi, who helped source the horse and was in charge of bidding, added: "We have been trying hard to buy horses for three days but have been hitting the cross bar. We have been underbidders on four horses at least and it was kinda of frustrating, but we have been able to score late like the English team last night!
"We wanted to buy a horse who could improve and he might handle the Dirt eventually, he is versatile and, hopefully, he will carry the flag for an emerging syndicate."
The team also purchased Lot 842, Gamekeeper by Blue Point and sold by Godolphin. (19:42)
Lot 826: Oliver St Lawrence takes the winning 100,000gns bid for Salvuccio, a three-year-old by Dutch Art and sold by The Castlebridge Consignment for owners Susan Roy.
The three-time-winning gelding, previously in training with George Boughey, has been bought with Bahrain in mind. He won last time out at Windsor over 6f.
"He is heading for the Bahrain Turf series there is a good programme for the sprinters, at least five races if not more for horse rated 85-100 and some conditions races, hopefully the Bahrain tracks will suit him,"said Fawzi Nass who will be training Salvuccio. (19:26)
Lot 800A: wildcard entry The Camden Colt, consigned as part of the Baroda Stud draft, is a fourth purchase this week by Omar Esmil Ghrghar.
"He goes to Dubai and into training with Bhupat Seemar, and he really likes this horse," reported Ghrghar after spending 130,000gns on the three-year-old colt by Footstepsinthesand.
Formerly trained by Richard Hannon, The Camden Colt has won once from 11 starts and is rated 89. He finished 16th of 29 last time out in the Britannia Handicap, having finished second and then third in competitive 0-85 and -0-90 handicaps at Newmarket earlier this spring. (18:19)
This evening's session is getting underway now. (17:46)
Lot 780: "He has been bought for trainer Jim Boyle," said Ross Doyle after spending 100,000gns on the Jane Chapple-Hyam-consigned Son Of Man, who finished third in last year's Horris Hill Stakes (G3). "He is horse who could travel a bit, he fits the profile form-wise and on rating. He is a very nice physical and has been turned out really well by Jane Chapple-Hyam, and looks great for a horse who has been quite busy. I am delighted to get him and fingers crossed he can go well, and it might be Bahrain where he heads – the good prize-money there is a huge attraction." (13:09)
Lot 754: Soldier's Empire is purchased by HH Sheikh Sultan Aldeen MS Al-Khalifa for 180,000gns, and will run under his racing banner Al Mohamediya Racing.
Spokesperson Ali Majeed said: "He will go straight to Bahrain from here and will not run again in the UK, and will be trained by Fawzi Nass. He is a serious horse, he could suit the Crown Prince Cup or the King's Cup, and he will lots of options when he is four."

Lot 713: Rukaana (Dark Angel) and out of Shurooq from Charles Hills' Faringdon Place Stables is bought by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock / O'Neill Racing for 46,000gns.
"I have bought him to go to Jonjo and AJ O'Neil," said Matt Coleman. "He is a horse with plenty of size and scope and I have had my eye on him for a while as a jumping prospect.
"He had only run over a mile until his last start, when he was stepped up to 1m2f. I really liked his runs earlier in the year on soft ground – he has run on faster ground the last twice and not fared too badly in what I would regard as decent handicaps. But he does really appreciate soft ground and has hit the line strong in all of his races so far and I think a step up in trip will be beneficial.
"I like Dark Angels to go jumping – he has a number of good jumps horses and I think this horse has the size and scope. We will give him the summer off and then bring him back in the autumn for juvenile hurdles." (12:19)
Lot 741: Jubilee Walk (Study Of Man) makes 220,000gns and is bought online by the China Horse Club, buying out former part-owner Qatar Racing.
Sold by Jamie Railton having been in training with James Ferguson, the gelding is rated 97 and last won over 5f at York in May off a BHA mark of 90. He is the winner of three races from six starts.
He is out of the Oasis Dream mare Starlit Sands, winner of the Group 3 Prix d'Arenberg, and runner-up in the Queen Mary Stakes (G2). It is the further family of the Lennox Stakes (G2) winner and dual Group 1 placed Sandrine.
Matt Houldsworth, European manager for China Horse Club, said: "He’ll stay with James and we’re going to target Bahrain. We’ll take him around the Middle East and perhaps we’ll go to Dubai as well. We haven’t had runners in Bahrain before but it’s something we’re keen to do as it’s obviously an emerging part of the world. We thought this horse fitted the profile nicely as he’s very much on the up.” (12:05)
Lot 690: the juvenile filly Ripple Effect is going into training with Hamad Al Jehani, bought by Abdulrahman Bin Fahad Al-Attiyah for 50,000gns,.
"She is going to Qatar and will run in the races for three-year-old fillies next year," said Al-Attiyah. "There is a good programme now in Qatar. She is a nice-looking filly, she has run three times now and shown form. She might run again in the UK, especially if there is a suitable bonus race for her – she is a maiden, and we are just deciding on her plan now."
Since the catalogue was published the two-year-old daughter of Kameko has run twice, finishing third at Doncaster and fourth at Thirsk.
She is out of the Dansili mare, the Listed winner Ripples Maid, the dam of six winners including Mikki Charm, winner of the Group 2 Sankei Sports Hai Hanshin Himba Stakes in Japan. (11:07)
Lot 688: Leicester Square, a winner over 1m4f since the catalogue was published and on only his second career start, is sold online to Hamad Ahmad al Jehani for 82,000gns.
Trained by Andrew Balding, and consigned by Jamie Railton for owners China Horse Club & Qatar Racing, the three-year-old gelding is by Masar and out of the Group1 winning mare Shalanaya, dam of six winners including the Listed winner Shalamba (Zoffany) (10:46)
Lot 674: Incremental is another purchase this week for Omar Esmil Ghrghar, the gelding by Kingman purchased from Michael Bell's Fitzroy House Stables for 42,000gns.
"I really like this horse and the shape of him. He is a very good horse and will be heading to Libya. Our budget was 30,000gns but so many people were interested in him, I decided to keep going and that was pretty much our last bid. I have bought horse this week for Dubai and France."
Incremental, from the family of Galiway, is the winner of three races, successful last time out on July 3rd at Epsom over 1m4f off a mark of 80. (10:30)

Lot 631: Bur Dubai is heading to Australia and into training with Mick Price, the son of Night Of Thunder signed for under the Price Kent Racing / Myracehorse Australia banner at 250,000gns. Jason Singh was taking bids over the phone, and the horse was consigned by Kevin Phiippart De Foy's Induna Stables as the winner of one race and BHA rated 89.
Michael Kent , co-trainer with Price, chatted on the phone from Melbourne before heading in to work for the morning.
"We work the sectionals really hard and put in hours and hours of work in to that research," reported Kent. "Although this horse's last start, when he won by 9l was impressive, it was his performance in a Listed race at Epsom in April that really impressed us when he finished sixth. It was a hot hot race and they ripped home, and he put in some really fast sectionals.
"He has got upside on upside on upside for us and has the perfect profile for Australia – he is fast, we love his sire, and he is the right type with bone, good feet and he vetted clean."
Of ownership plans, Kent outlined: "We have partnered with My Racehorse, who has done so well, and we will syndicate the remaining percentage in the horse, there are shares available!"
The horse will not travel immediately and will spend some down time in Britain: "We will give him six weeks and let him take advantage of your 'summer' and warmer weather – he will then ship and can slot into our routine," said Kent, who added: "I worked in Newmarket and know Kevin – he is a lovely fella and is a great trainer who looks after his horse really well, that was a big positive for us, too."
My Racehorse owns the Australian Group 1 Metropolitan winner Just Fine – the son of Sea The Stars purchased at Tattersalls by McKeever Bloodstock / Waterhouse Bott Racing for 300,000gns from Freemason Lodge Stables at the 2022 Autumn Horses In Training Sale. (18:34)
Lot 608: the 2023 Tattersalls Craven Sale has provided a rich seam for the Gredley family – through agent Freddy Tylicki the family purchased flagbearer Ambiente Friendly, who this season won the Lingfield Derby Trial (L) before going onto to put in two great efforts when second and third in the Derby and the Irish Derby, but they also purchased, under the family's Stetchworth and Middle Park Studs banner, the Night Of Thunder colt City House for 85,000gns.
Trained by James Fanshawe alongside the family's Classic performer, City House is now the winner of one race over6f and he was sold today to JS Bloodstock / G Scott Racing for 180,000gns.
Trainer George Scott, who had a great winter last season with his string of horses in Bahrain, said: "We enjoyed our time in Bahrain and we were looking for a couple of sprinters, and all being well he will end up there. City House looks a really robust horse – James Fanshawe has done a great job with him and there looks to be plenty of miles left on the clock, he gave him a positive write up. Equally as important Callum [Shepherd] and Dan Muscat both rode him and really like the horse, too.
"He looks like one who will go on fast ground and could run over a stiff 5f or6f, there is great prize-money in Bahrain and it is great fun. My client is a new to me and he is based in London, but has some of his own clients in Bahrain and Dubai. He will be working over there a bit in the winter so he would like some action while he is there."
Scott added: "We are looking to strengthen our Bahrain team this winter. The prize-money is great, it is very competitive, you need the right type of horse, they need to be durable. If we can get this horse into a groove, he could win a substantial part of his purchase price back. He fits the bill and looks perfect for the job."
Of the 180,000gns purchase price, Scott said: "I thought he'd make a bit less than that but am also not surprised – I thought we'd have to fend off the people who looked as though they were bidding against us."
Isle Of Jura was bought by JS Bloodstock and Scott at the 2023 Tattersalls Ascot March Sale for £150,000 for owner Victorious Racing. He was a subsequent four-time winner in Bahrain with victories including the Listed His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup, and then has won his two starts this season back in Britain – at Goodwood and then at Royal Ascot when successful in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes. It was a first Royal meeting success for Scott and jockey Shepherd.
Scott updated on plans: "He has come out of Royal Ascot great and all roads led to the King George and, hopefully, we get there in one piece." (18:02)
Lot 573: a truly international future beckons for Bad Desire, a colt by Wootton Bassett sold by The Castlebridge Consignment and previously trained by Joseph O'Brien.
Bought by Libyan owner Omar Esmil Gharghar for 150,000gns, the three-year-old, who is still a maiden and rated 94, is to be trained initially in France by the Italian-born, French-based trainer Gianluca Bietolini. The plan is then to ship the horse to Dubai where he will be trained by Mehmet Yusuf Marangoz, who is from Turkey but hopes to take out his training licence in Dubai.
"I like this horse a lot, he has good form at Listed level on his last start and is well rated," said the colt's new owner. "I have horses in France and he will join the string there to start with. I am very happy to have bought this horse." (17:14)
Lot 559: the last in the ring from the Juddmonte draft fetches 300,000gns, and Calabria (Kingman) is bought by Avenue Bloodstock.
She is a daughter of the Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet winner Romantica (Galileo) and a granddaughter of the two-time European champion Banks Hill.
"I have bought two very nice fillies from Juddmonte," said Mark McStay of Avenue Bloodstock having also purchased Lot 556 for 80,000gns. "The first is a Le Havre filly and a daughter of a Group 1 winner [Proportional], and both very good physicals.
"As we know Juddmonte blood is very hard to come by, the farm is the best breeder in the world, and I am absolutely thrilled to get them. We had to dig deep to get the filly from Banks Hill family [Lot 559], but it is probably the best pedigree in the book – when you see Banks Hill, Dansili, Hasili, Champs Elysees on the page, it doesn't need much explanation as to why you had to dig so deep and why there was such stiff competition to get her."
He added: "I fancy Kingman as a broodmare sire, he could easily make it. The fillies were beautifully presented by Juddmonte and recommended. The mating plans will be fluid of both, but they will go to some of the best stallions and will be given the best chance." (16:47)
Lot 558: Badgers Bloodstock goes to 300,000gns for Anncapa (Frankel), the three-year-old daughter of Ventura (Chester House), the four-time US Grade 1 winner, and an own-sister to Fount, winner of the Prix de Lieurey (G3).
It is a family well known to Grant Pritchard-Gordon of Badgers Bloodstock – Pritchard Gordon having been worked for Juddmonte for 17 years.
"She has been bought for a long-standing European client, who loves Juddmonte families as much as I do. Seeing as we know so much about Juddmonte, it was the obvious thing to do. said Pritchard-Gordon.
He continued: "She is a lovely big filly, she walked well out there, and she goes straight to the paddocks from here. This particular family I have known for a long time – I go back beyond Roupala [third dam]." (16:22)
